Houston Deco: Houston's Modernistic Architecture
811 Main St. and 810 Fannin St.
demolished
Completed: 1940, expanded 1949
Demolished: 2007
Architects: Irving R. Klein (1940), Alfred C. Finn (1949)

Klein's sweeping staircases and streamlined banisters reflected his years as a Hollywood set designer. When Finn expanded the Bond store through the block from Main to Fannin Street, he gave a minimalist treatment to the elements of Klein's façade while maintaining the store's classic Art Deco interiors. The building was demolished in 2007 to make way for a 47-story office building.
