Houston Deco: Houston's Modernistic Architecture
901 Main St. (at Walker)
altered
Historic name: Krupp & Tuffly Shoes
Current name: Just a Dollar Store
Completed: 1929
Architect: Alfred C. Finn

The evolution of the Krupp & Tuffly building illustrates the unsympathetic alterations typically made to Houston’s historic architecture. The adjacent Smart Shop building was similarly remodeled, but its Art Deco façade was reconstructed in 2003.
